Seven-Session Super Sunday

Eskmuthe had a super Sunday of training, with seven different crews taking to the water in a record-breaking day for the club.

The first 3 sessions launched from Fisherrow Harbour as normal, but the final 4 launched and landed on Portobello beach - then the boat was towed back home at the end of the day.

Some rowers and coxes were involved in more than one session, with 28 people on the water in total.

David Lee, Eskmuthe Regatta Officer, said: "With 19 different crews training for Skiffieworlds in July, we're trying to make the very most of the water in the immediate area. When there are limited options at Fisherrow, it makes sense to 'steal' Porty's water!”

"We planned to do sessions from Porty Beach in February, but unfortunately chose the Sunday which was hit by a heavy storm. This time, the weather was good, despite early haar and a sneaky swell, and it was brilliant to get so many sessions in - including crews from all the different age categories.”

The club hopes to repeat this at least once a month in the run-up to the world championships at Stranraer from July 7-12.
